Serbian Foreign Minister Highlights Strong Ties with Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Đurić held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Serbia, Oybek Shakhavdinov, during which he emphasized the stable and friendly nature of bilateral relations.
He noted that there are no outstanding issues between the two countries and expressed confidence in the significant potential to expand cooperation across all key sectors.
The minister paid particular attention to the recent first official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Uzbekistan, which, in his view, provided a powerful impetus for the development of Uzbek-Serbian relations.
Following the visit, an Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments and an Agreement on Economic Cooperation were signed, which Đurić believes will substantially strengthen economic ties between the countries.
The head of Serbia’s foreign ministry also noted that Serbia and Uzbekistan hold closely aligned positions on many bilateral and international issues.
He specifically thanked Tashkent for its consistent support of Serbia’s territorial integrity, emphasizing that such a stance serves as an important guide for the development of bilateral cooperation.
In addition, the minister expressed appreciation to the Uzbek side for officially confirming its participation in the Specialized International Expo 2027, noting confidence that Uzbekistan will present its capabilities at a high level.
