Serbia and Uzbekistan discuss cooperation in labor and employment
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Serbia’s Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, held a meeting today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Oybek Shakhadinov, to discuss the further development of bilateral relations and new avenues of cooperation in the field of labor and employment.
Đurđević Stamenkovski emphasized that Serbia views Uzbekistan as a sincere, friendly and brotherly nation with which it shares common values, respect for traditions, the preservation of national identity, and a commitment to strengthening families and society, according to the Serbian Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs.
She noted that these shared values form a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in areas of strategic importance to both countries.
The statement highlights that Serbia and Uzbekistan are demonstrating significant economic growth, creating opportunities to exchange best practices and jointly advance labor and labor-migration policies.
In this context, the parties discussed upcoming steps that will lead to the signing of a technical protocol between the national employment services, paving the way for the practical implementation of agreed measures.
The shared goal is to develop a sustainable, fair and mutually beneficial model of labor migration that will support economic development and safeguard the interests of both countries’ domestic labor markets.
The meeting also placed special emphasis on the recent visit of the President of Serbia to Uzbekistan, during which a Memorandum of Understanding on labor migration was signed. This document laid the foundation for stable, systematic and long-term cooperation between the competent institutions of the two states.
Ambassador Shakhadinov invited Đurđević Stamenkovski to visit Uzbekistan in March next year.
The minister accepted the invitation with appreciation, and the visit is expected to result in the signing of a technical protocol that will elevate Serbia–Uzbekistan cooperation to a new, more concrete level.
