Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Senate members reviewed the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On publishing activities”.
It was noted that the Senate Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis considered the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Publishing Activities". During the study, it was discussed in the district (city), regional Kengashes of people's deputies, the opinions of local deputies, Committee members and experts are summarized.
It was emphasized that in the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Additional Measures for the Further Development of the Publishing and Printing Sphere” of March 16, 2020, it was established that starting from 1 July 2020, the system of notification of authorized state bodies about the start of publishing and printing activities with the abolition of the procedure for issuing permits licensing of publishing activities, as well as the procedure for issuing permits for printing activities. Based on the requirements of this resolution, it is required to exclude from the law the rules related to licensing.
Senators also drew attention to the absence in the Law of norms providing for the procedure for the preparation and dissemination of electronic publishing. In addition, the preparation of religious materials in the country is allowed after examination by the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers. From this point of view, the necessity of supplementing the Law with new norms is noted.
Based on the foregoing, a decision was made to reject the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Publishing Activities”.
