Senators introduce changes to some laws in connection with improvement of inquiry institution
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Senators considered a law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improvement of inquiry institute”.

Members of the Senate noted that the law introduces changes and amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes of Uzbekistan, as well as the Law “On operative-search activity”.

These changes, in particular, envisages exclusion inquiry institute from the criminal procedural legislation, which actually duplicates the institution of pre-investigation checks.

The law established a simplified procedure for pre-trial proceedings in cases of crimes, which do not pose a major public danger.

The right to conduct the inquiry is provided to the internal affairs bodies, the Department for Combating Tax, Currency Crimes and Legalization of Criminal Incomes at the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Bureau of Enforcement at the General Prosecutor’s Office and the state customs authorities.

The law stipulates transfer investigation of some dangerous crimes to the public from interior affairs bodies to the prosecutor’s office.

According to the Senators, adoption of the law will help ensure promptness of the investigation, improve the quality of the investigators’ work, and eliminate the practice of duplication and red tape in the investigation of criminal cases. The law was approved by senators.
