Senate hosts meeting with the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 September 2019, the Senate hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev with the Special Envoy of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Knut Vollebaek.
During the meeting, issues of implementing the agreements reached during the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Norway in June 2019 were discussed. The parties noted the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and the development of bilateral cooperation.
It was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Norway have noticeably intensified, which once again testifies to the openness of our country's foreign policy and its willingness to expand constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with partners.
The Norwegian side praised Uzbekistan for its contribution to strengthening security in Central Asia. It was emphasized that Norway is interested in intensifying comprehensive cooperation with Uzbekistan and plans to send a high-level delegation to the republic in the near future. In particular, they talked about the work on organizing the visit of the Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Soreyde to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation within the framework of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region and its joint promotion among donor states and charitable organizations were also discussed.
