Senate Discusses Uzbekistan’s Cooperation with the UN and Regional Agenda
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 September 2025, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva held a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kaha Imnadze.
The discussion focused on expanding Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN and its agencies, as well as joint efforts to ensure peace, security, and sustainable development in Central Asia. Particular attention was given to collaboration with the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy, including projects on the rational use of transboundary resources and enhancing the participation of women and youth in peacebuilding processes.
The parties exchanged views on preparations for the first Ferghana Peace Forum, scheduled for October 2025, and on priority areas for the upcoming 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, to be chaired by Uzbekistan.
They also discussed prospects for hosting the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in 2026, as well as initiatives in the field of gender equality, the opening of a UN Women office, and measures to strengthen women’s rights and empower young people.
