Senate Approves Uzbekistan’s State Budget for 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the twelfth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, lawmakers reviewed and approved the Law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2026.”

Senators noted that the budget for the coming year is aimed at ensuring the country’s socio-economic development, improving living standards, strengthening citizens’ well-being, advancing the green economy, protecting the environment, expanding healthcare coverage, and providing quality education.

Nearly 55% of total state budget expenditures, or 220 trillion soums, are allocated to the social sector. In particular, 100 trillion soums are earmarked for education and 49 trillion soums for healthcare, representing an increase of 11.4% compared to the current year. Inflation is projected at 7%.

In 2026, total budget expenditures are set at 402.6 trillion soums, while revenues are expected to reach 368.9 trillion soums. Revenues of state targeted funds are projected at 78.6 trillion soums, with expenditures amounting to 74.4 trillion soums, excluding interbudgetary transfers. The consolidated budget is formed with revenues of 515.8 trillion soums and expenditures of 567.6 trillion soums, with the deficit not exceeding 3% of GDP.

During the discussion, senators emphasized the importance of increasing budget revenues and ensuring the targeted and efficient use of public funds. They also underscored the need to implement key macroeconomic policy priorities, address social issues, and improve infrastructure at the district level.

Following the session, the law was approved by the Senate and will enter into force at the beginning of 2026.
