Senate Approves Law Strengthening Liability for Fire Safety Violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a plenary session, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reviewed and approved the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Improve Fire Prevention Effectiveness.”

Senators noted that in recent years, the country has implemented comprehensive measures to prevent fires and enhance government oversight in fire safety. Particular emphasis is placed on protecting the lives and health of citizens, safeguarding property of individuals and legal entities, and establishing an integrated fire safety system.

The law introduces amendments to the Code of Administrative Liability and the Law on Fire Safety, including:

Increased responsibility for officials who violate fire safety regulations.

Clarification of the powers of state fire supervision authorities.

Addition to Article 6 of the Law on Fire Safety granting the Ministry of Emergency Situations the right to suspend business activities to prevent fire hazards and threats to life and health.

Senators emphasized that adopting the law will enhance fire prevention and ensure more effective enforcement of legal measures against violations of fire safety rules.

The law was approved by the Senate.
