Senate Appoints New Supreme Court Judges in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the fourteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the issue of introducing changes to the composition of the country’s Supreme Court was considered.

According to the Senate resolution, Akram Shukurov was elected to an indefinite term as a judge of the Supreme Court. He was also appointed to a five-year term as Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the Judicial Chamber.

Furthermore, Bakhodir Abdullaev, Sobirjon Ergashev, Begzod Khaidarov, and Nozimjon Zhuraev were elected to the position of Supreme Court judge for ten-year terms. Akmal Murodov and Odil Normakhmatov received indefinite appointments to the bench.

In connection with transitions to other positions, Dilshod Rajabov, Kamoliddin Tollibaev, Anvar Elmurodov, and Elbekzhon Turgunboev were relieved of their duties as judges of the Supreme Court.

The adopted decisions are aimed at strengthening the composition of the highest judicial instance and ensuring the stable functioning of the justice system in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
