Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A seminar was held in the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis as part of the "School of Senators." The event was organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis in conjunction with the Center for Development Strategy.
The seminar was dedicated to the topic “The Importance of the Action Strategy in the five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 and the role of the parliament in its implementation”.
Opening it, the first deputy chairman of the Senate Sodik Safoev noted that “this Strategy is the first important historical document that has incorporated not only the opinions of experts, but also the general public. The strategy marked the beginning of a new period in the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The seminar discussed the importance of the Strategy of Action in five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 in the development of state and social construction, ensuring the rule of law and further strengthening the judicial system, developing and liberalizing the economy, ensuring security, interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, the implementation of deeply thought out, mutually beneficial and constructive foreign policy.
Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of the Strategy of Actions in the past three years. It was noted that in a short time large-scale reforms were implemented aimed at deepening reforms in priority areas and modernizing the country. Thus, the role of parliament in the system of state power is being strengthened. The Chambers of the Oliy Majlis pay special attention to the issues of combating corruption, youth, family and women. It was noted that in the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to concrete facts it was shown that democratic reforms are the only right way of development for our country.
From year to year, the country’s economic growth rates are growing thanks to ongoing work in the field of supporting entrepreneurial activity, improving tax policy, developing tourism, and implementing an active investment policy.
At the end of the seminar, it was emphasized that a number of important tasks were assigned to senators to clarify the essence of the Strategy of Actions, ensure its implementation in the Year of the Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy, establish effective parliamentary control over the activities of executive bodies, regularly hear reports of leaders in parliament and local Kengashes government, industries and regions about the work being done.
