SCO public diplomacy in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It is not by chance that there is an expression: “A friend is in need.” Friends are needed in order to be near not only in joy, but also in difficult moments. To be a good friend, you need to be able to sympathize and sacrifice your goods for the benefit of another.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in the Uzbek-Chinese relations, a favorable trend has been maintained in healthy and stable development. Contacts at the highest level are gradually becoming more frequent, and political mutual trust is strengthening.

The SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has been conducting consistent work to develop bilateral and multilateral relations with public organizations of the SCO member countries.

The Center gives a special role to the development of humanitarian cooperation in strengthening mutual understanding, trust, and friendship between peoples through the active use of mechanisms of public diplomacy.

Evidence of this is the established fruitful cooperation of the Center with the Chinese SCO Committee on Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation (KDDS), which includes a significant number of promising areas of strengthening bilateral ties, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including with the SCO countries.

In the current difficult circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, both partner organizations are actively involved in helping solve the problems of its consequences.

As you know, earlier Uzbekistan sent humanitarian aid to China to support it in the fight against the epidemic of coronavirus. Now, China was one of the first to send a group of experienced Chinese doctors to Uzbekistan to deal with the eradication of the coronavirus epidemic in China. The visit of Chinese specialists will allow us to effectively introduce the advanced experience of Chinese medicine in our country, including in organizing quarantine measures, identifying and treating diseases, conducting rehabilitation measures, and improving the skills of medical personnel.

A continuation of the support of the fraternal people was the transfer of humanitarian aid from the KDDS, sent to the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan. Disposable medical masks were presented today at the Chinese Embassy in Tashkent.

On the same day, the parcels were transferred to the Center for the Coordination of Sponsorship. Through groups of volunteers and gatherings of citizens of the city of Tashkent, assistance will be sent to families in need of social support.

As they say, "Dost uzoqda bolsa ham, kongli yaqin." Friendly peoples are convinced that the final victory will certainly be with our countries.
