SCO and CIS Prosecutor Generals hold meeting in Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 September, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Prosecutor General Otabek Murodov took part in the 28th meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS countries and the 16th meeting of the Prosecutors General of the SCO member states in the city Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

General prosecutors and heads of delegations from CIS and SCO member states, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, China, Pakistan, India, as well as invited guests from observer countries and partners in the dialogue - Afghanistan, Mongolia, Iran, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the president of the International Association of Prosecutors Gerhard Jarosch and the Attorney General of Saudi Arabia took part in the events.

Prosecutor General Otabek Murodov briefed the participants about ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, including in law enforcement.

During the meeting of the Prosecutors General of the SCO countries, issues of joint combat against transnational and organized crime, the tension of threats of terrorism, extremism, religious and political radicalism and other destructive actions of extremist movements were discussed, as well as other problems of world and regional security were discussed.

Concern was expressed over the complication of the political situation in a number of countries affected by the wars, the harmful effects of political differences and the deaths of civilians in these states, and the joint integration of the CIS member states and the SCO was identified as an important factor for ensuring security in the territories of states and regions.

During the meeting, the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan noted that the priority task of the Republic of Uzbekistan in this direction is to fight not with the already come consequences of crimes and offenses, but with their root causes.

Also, within the framework of the visit, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan held bilateral meetings with delegations from Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Programs of cooperation with Russia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan were signed.
