Schetkina: Agreements on the results of the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan will be as specific as possible

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Agreements and contracts planned for signing at the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan are as specific as possible, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Marianna Shchetkina said following a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev, BelTA reported.

"We discussed the signing of agreements and commercial contracts. In the process of elaboration, there are more than twenty agreements between the regions, specific manufacturing enterprises and about twenty contracts. At the meeting, there was talk about their preparation and readiness for signing. We agreed that all agreements and contracts should be as concrete, with numbers and signatories, "said Marianna Shchetkina. According to her, if a number of contracts are not signed at the forum, they will be signed in a certain period after its completion.

The sides also discussed the cooperation of the Minsk Automobile Plant, Amkodor, MTZ with Uzbek colleagues, interaction in the field of light industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, including the implementation of the schedule of deliveries of cattle to Uzbekistan, the creation of appropriate breeding centers, questions of the humanitarian sphere. Attention is also paid to the training of highly qualified specialists, joint projects in the field of scientific activity and development of IT, and interaction between universities. It is noteworthy that about 30 heads of universities of Uzbekistan will arrive at the upcoming forum of the regions.

In general, the status of the Forum of Regions is special. The Government and Parliament are responsible for the individual sections. Overall coordination is carried out by the Council of the Republic.

According to Marianna Shchetkina, this will be a meeting of professionals to discuss issues that are particularly important for cooperation between the two states. The goal is to expand the distribution network, the practice of creating joint ventures, to strengthen cooperation in general.

The agenda is based on the actualization and implementation of the activities prescribed in the roadmap of cooperation between the two countries, which was developed on the instructions of the presidents during the visit of the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko to Uzbekistan in 2018. The map contains specific points for all activities. In its continuation, three sections of the forum were organized: on cooperation in the sphere of the agro-industrial sector and food security, on industrial cooperation, and on interaction in the humanitarian, IT and scientific fields. An important area of work will be inter-parliamentary interaction. “At the meeting, we agreed on a program of action, work of the sections, identified the main issues for discussion, linked some positions with the implementation of the roadmap and its development,” added Marianna Shchetkina.

Following the results of the work of the sections, they will develop recommendations and basic proposals that will be submitted for discussion at the plenary session. According to the results of the forum, they will adopt a resolution binding on the parties.

The Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan will be held in Minsk on 29-30 July. Representatives of regions, ministries and departments, parliamentarians, business circles of the two countries will take part in it. The delegation of Uzbekistan will be headed by the first deputy chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Sadyk Safaev. All regions of Uzbekistan will be represented.
