Sardor Umurzakov and Klaus Mangold discuss development of Uzbek-German relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 February, a meeting was held between Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and the famous German political and economic consultant, President of the Mangold Consulting GmbH Dr. Klaus Mangold.

At the meeting, the already achieved milestones and indicators in the field of bilateral investment and trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany were discussed.

The Uzbek side noted that special attention is being paid to the development of relations between two countries, as evidenced by the visit of President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Germany in January. The relevant intergovernmental structures are functioning successfully: the Working Group on Trade and Investment, the Working Group on Agriculture, the German-Uzbek Business Council, the bilateral Committee on Investments and Technologies, established on the instructions of the President of Uzbekistan.

The front of potential intercountry cooperation is extremely high: a number of agreements with German companies such as Berlin Economics, Roland Berger, Deutsche Bahn, Obermeier, Pappenburg, Wirtgen, Lufthansa ”,“ DIECHEL ”,“ Siemens ”and“ Gress ”.

Also, agreements were reached on implementation of joint projects, including the creation of joint faculties (University of Rostock and AndMI), double-degree programs (Berlin Technical University, European school of management and technology, University of Anhalt, etc.).

Dr. Mangold, in his turn, noted that Uzbekistan has high chances to declare itself due to the ongoing reforms and innovations, favorable geopolitical location, availability of resources and human potential, and therefore the German economy will accompany the state on this path by dynamizing relations between the governments of the two countries. It was also reported that in terms of intergovernmental cooperation, two stages of cooperation are planned: the visit of the President of Germany to Uzbekistan in May of this year and the visit of the delegation of the East Committee of the German Economy, combined with the holding of a business forum with the participation of German enterprises in October in Tashkent.

During the talks, the parties identified three key areas of cooperation between two countries: investment cooperation - a Joint Investment Council is being created, the main focus of which will be on the timely implementation of already identified projects, support in the implementation of advanced technologies and management - the German side is ready to hold consultations on the digitalization of energy and infrastructure sector, cooperation in the field of education - a scholarship program has been created for Uzbek managers rmanskih enterprises: the first 30 fellows will go to study in Germany later this year. Moreover, over the next week, the German side will meet with Uzbek universities in organizing the financing of joint training programs and scientific and technological research and development.
