Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee: Epidemiological Situation in Tashkent Remains Stable

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reports have been circulating on social media about the alleged possible introduction of quarantine measures in certain preschool educational institutions in Tashkent. In response, the Tashkent City Department of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee has issued an official clarification.

The agency stated that the epidemiological situation in the capital with regard to dangerous infectious diseases remains stable. According to specialists, there are currently no grounds for introducing quarantine measures in connection with the diseases mentioned on social media, including measles, meningitis, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and other infections.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee noted that during the winter period a seasonal increase in cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections is traditionally observed. In this context, educational institutions continuously carry out preventive measures aimed at protecting children’s health.

These include the so-called morning health screening, which involves examining children upon arrival, measuring body temperature, temporarily isolating those showing signs of illness, as well as providing explanations and recommendations to parents. It was precisely these standard preventive measures, the department emphasized, that were mistakenly perceived by some citizens as the introduction of quarantine.

In its official statement, the agency urged residents to refrain from trusting unverified information circulating on social media and to rely exclusively on data disseminated through official sources.
