Samarkand Region Strengthens Higher Education Cooperation with Italy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Acting Hokim of Samarkand region, Adiz Boboev, held a meeting with representatives of the University of Tuscia to discuss prospects for joint educational initiatives.

The discussion focused on creating a joint campus based at the Samarkand Institute of Agro-Innovations and Research and the Italian university.

The initiative follows the meeting between the President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Italy in Samarkand on 28–29 May 2025, which identified a new direction for bilateral cooperation in science and education. An official agreement between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the University of Tuscia formalized the parties’ intentions.

The cooperation will implement joint educational programs in two bachelor’s fields — Agronomy and Food Science & Technology — and two master’s fields — Organic Agriculture.

Adiz Boboev emphasized that the programs are designed according to international standards and will allow students to gain advanced European expertise in the agricultural sector. “The joint program will play a key role in the production, processing, and export of natural products,” he noted.

Representatives of the University of Tuscia stated that students will have the opportunity to undertake internships at institutions in both countries.

Graduates of the program will receive dual diplomas recognized in both Uzbekistan and Italy, significantly expanding their employment opportunities nationally and internationally.

The parties also agreed to develop measures to enhance educational effectiveness, introduce new study areas, and implement modern digital platforms in academic practice.
