Samarkand Marathon launches ONLINE MARATHON
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 24 February to 24 March 2025, Samarkand Marathon, in collaboration with UzPost, will host ONLINE MARATHON, a charitable virtual run that has become part of the Samarkand Marathon series.
Registration opens on 24 February on the official marathon website, with all proceeds going toward charitable initiatives.
ONLINE MARATHON offers a unique opportunity for participants to complete their chosen distance at a convenient time and along their favorite route.
Mirhan Sagitov, curator of the Samarkand Marathon series, stated: “ONLINE MARATHON allows runners from across Uzbekistan to become part of Samarkand Marathon, regardless of location or schedule. Our goal is not only to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle but also to raise awareness for important charitable causes.”
Participants of different age groups can choose from the following distances:
Ages 13 and up: 2 km (running, Nordic walking)
Ages 16 and up: 5 km, 10 km
Ages 18 and up: 21.1 km, 42.2 km
Special races for children:
KIDS RUN – 60 (60 m) — ages 3 and up
KIDS RUN – 300 (300 m) — ages 4-6
KIDS RUN – 600 (600 m) — ages 7-11
KIDS RUN – 1000 (1000 m) — ages 11-12
ONLINE MARATHON is not only an opportunity to test one’s endurance ahead of major races but also a chance to support the charitable mission of Samarkand Marathon while earning commemorative rewards. Participation and rewards are available exclusively to residents of Uzbekistan.
