Samarkand Human Rights Web Forum to be held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12-13 August, it is planned to hold a video conference of the Samarkand web forum on human rights, dedicated to topical issues of promoting youth rights.

The purpose of the Forum is to discuss topical issues of improving international and regional instruments and mechanisms for the protection and promotion of youth rights.

The Forum is expected to involve heads of youth structures in the UN, EU, OIC, African Union, representatives of foreign national human rights institutions, civil society institutions, scientists and experts, youth organizations.

Within the framework of the UN-75 initiative, Uzbekistan plans to hold a large-scale event to discuss the important role of youth in sustainable development, crisis prevention and gender equality, the implementation of human rights and the formation of a culture of peace, which are taken into account in the United Nations Strategy for Youth 2030.

At the 72nd UN General Assembly, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev proposed to develop a UN International Convention on the Rights of Youth. Uzbekistan has prepared a draft International Convention on the Rights of Youth.

Format of the event.

The Forum will be held in the format of 3 plenary sessions:

1st session - Development of international standards for youth rights;

2nd session - Youth rights and Sustainable Development Goals.

3rd session - Human rights education for youth.

It is planned to invite the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the UN Special Envoy for Youth, the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and other high-ranking officials as honorary speakers.
