Samarkand and Leon to establish twin-cities relations

Samarkand and Spain’s Leon are planning to establish twin-cities relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate stated in interview to Jahon news agency.
Spanish envoy said that the project on establishment of twin-cities relations between Samarkand and Leon, Castile province.
He said that these regions have ancient historic relations. In the 15th century, Ruy Gonzáles de Clavijo was accredited at the Amir Temur Empire. Uzbekistan and Spain establish diplomatic relations than, envoy said.
José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate added that there is also a project on establishment of twin-cities relations between Bukhara and Cardoba. He said that there are great potential to expand bilateral relations between two nations.
