Samarkand and Jurmala sign agreement of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Khokimyat of Samarkand city of Uzbekistan and Duma of Jurmala of Latvia signed an agreement of cooperation in the field of tourism, culture and sport on 29 May 2014.

The agreement was signed within the official visit of the President of Latvia Andris Berzins to Uzbekistan.

The Governor of Samarkand Akbar Shukurov and mayor of Jurmala Gatis Truksnis inked the agreement of cooperation.

Within the agreement, Samarkand and Jurmala will cooperate in tourism sector. Gatis Truksnis said that more and more citizens of Latvia want to visit Uzbekistan and to familiarize with heritage of the Uzbek people. He said that the agreement will be important step in developing of cooperation between two states.

In line with the document two cities will hold joint cultural events, festivals and exhibitions. The sport clubs of two cities will also establish cooperation ties and exchange coaches.
