Saida Mirziyoyeva: 27 New Projects Worth US$2 Billion to Be Implemented in Karakalpakstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the coming years, 27 large-scale projects worth a total of about US$2 billion will be implemented in Karakalpakstan, creating nearly 10,000 new jobs. The announcement was made by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan.
According to her, the new initiatives will cover key sectors such as industry, logistics, agriculture, and healthcare. Mirziyoyeva emphasized that over the past two years, Karakalpakstan has been steadily transforming into an economically active region: 64 investment projects have already been completed, providing employment for more than 5,000 people.
During her visit to Nukus, she also discussed with local authorities and experts the challenges faced by the region, including gas supply, road construction, and support for entrepreneurship. She noted that concrete solutions have been identified jointly with the responsible government agencies to address these issues.
“I am convinced that all these new factories, clinics, recreation zones, and logistics centers will serve as a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth and will significantly improve the quality of life of the people of Karakalpakstan,” Saida Mirziyoyeva wrote on her Telegram channel.
The head of the Presidential Administration also visited the Jeketerak mahalla in Nukus, where a modernized and expanded water treatment facility was inaugurated. The facility will provide clean water to 71 mahallas—nearly 350,000 residents—as well as schools, hospitals, and other social institutions. Mirziyoyeva noted that the project was financed from the national budget and implemented by Uzbek engineers.
