Russian Drama Theater in Tashkent Reopens After Two-Year Renovation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Academic Russian Theater of Uzbekistan in Tashkent is resuming operations after an almost two-year hiatus for major renovations. The first performances in the renovated theater are scheduled for 7 and 8 February.
The theater was closed for reconstruction in March 2024 and is reopening its doors to the public in February 2026.
The reopening marks a significant event for the city’s theater audience.
The 91st theatrical season will open with the premiere of “Don’t Part with Your Loved Ones”, staged on 7 and 8 February. The symbolic title underscores the theater’s return to active creative work after the extended break.
Throughout the new season, audiences can look forward to a series of premieres. On 13 February, the stage will host the premiere of “Melpomene’s Tales”, followed by “The Bourgeois Gentleman” on 14 February, and “Trouble from a Tender Heart” on 15 February.
The theater’s reopening marks a new chapter in its activities and expands the cultural offerings of the capital.
