Russia, Uzbekistan to sign agreement on transfer of irradiated fuel to Russia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia and Uzbekistan are planning to sign an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation on transfer of irradiated fuel from Uzbek research reactor INN-3M to Russia.

Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed an order on approval of the agreement on 29 January 2014. The text of agreement was developed by Rosatom.

According to the agreement, Russia plans to return irradiated fuel of Russian production as UO2SO4 solution at the volume of over 30 liters and enriched uranium with U-235 isotope in the volume of 5 kg.

Irradiated fuel will be transferred to Russia for temporary technologic storage with further processing.
