Russia and Uzbekistan Strengthen Partnership in Creative Industries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A briefing on the prospects for cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the creative industries was held at the Sputnik Uzbekistan multimedia press center.

Gulnara Agamova, CEO of the Moscow Agency for Creative Industries, noted that Uzbekistan is today one of the fastest-growing IT hubs in Central Asia and represents significant strategic interest. She emphasized that the main goal of collaboration is to exchange experience and study successful digital development practices, enabling long-term partnerships and defining concrete areas for joint work.

“We see serious economic potential in this partnership. The creative economy is rapidly developing both in Moscow and in Tashkent,” Agamova said.

She highlighted an upcoming meeting with IT Park Uzbekistan, which has demonstrated impressive growth over the past four years. “This experience is valuable to us, and we want to adopt it while contributing to the IT hub,” she added.

Game development was identified as a key area of potential cooperation. Uzbekistan already has a developed IT infrastructure and is a leader in e-sports in Central Asia, where the gaming industry is seen not only as a technological segment but also as part of the cultural space.

Film and animation were also named as promising areas: Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage can serve as the foundation for unique content with regional and international appeal. Additionally, the parties see significant potential for joint projects in design and fashion. Through the online platform “Center for Materials,” Uzbekistan already collaborates with Moscow, showcasing about 70 materials from nine domestic producers.

“Youth and talent are the driving force of the creative economy. Over five years, the Agency has implemented hundreds of projects, and we have tested methods that can be scaled,” Agamova emphasized.

She also noted that currently only Russian studios participate in the “Game Factory” project, but in the future, companies from CIS countries, including Uzbekistan, are expected to join.

Cooperation in the creative industries, covering digital technologies, video games, film, animation, design, and fashion, opens new opportunities for both countries. Joint efforts will allow Russia and Uzbekistan to strengthen their positions in the global creative economy.
