Russia and Uzbekistan Sign Prosecution Program for 2027–2028

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Prosecutor General of Russia, Alexander Gutsan, and the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Nigmatilla Yuldashev, signed a cooperation program for 2027–2028 during a working visit of the Russian supervisory authority to Uzbekistan. The program is designed to continue the exchange of advanced legal practices between the two nations.

In a statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the meeting underscored the importance of developing the trade and economic partnership between Russia and Uzbekistan. The stability and security of this partnership were described as heavily dependent on effective interaction within the law enforcement sphere.

Specific attention was directed toward the interagency working group on migration issues, established in 2025. According to the Russian side, this group has been instrumental in protecting the rights of citizens from both countries. Discussions also covered efforts to counter extremist and terrorist ideologies, including operational measures to restrict access to illegal content aimed at inciting ethnic hatred.

During the negotiations, the Russian delegation proposed exploring a treaty on the transfer of sentenced persons. Such an agreement would allow citizens of Russia and Uzbekistan to serve their judicial sentences in their home countries.

The parties noted that the cooperation between the two prosecutor's offices has been governed by a formal agreement since 2014. Since then, three consecutive interaction programs have been implemented, covering 2019–2020, 2021–2023, and 2024–2025. Additionally, a memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation was signed in 2021, followed by an agreement between specialized educational institutions in 2022.
