Roundtable Discusses Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy and Human Rights Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 April, a roundtable on “Prospects for Achieving the Priority Goals of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy and Ensuring Human Rights” was held at the House of Human Rights. The event focused on advancing national development goals and strengthening mechanisms to protect citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Participants included representatives of the National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan, doctoral candidates from the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences, master’s students of the “International Human Rights Law” program at the Academy of Law Enforcement, as well as independent researchers and experts.

Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Center and academician, highlighted the pivotal role of human rights protection in achieving the country’s strategic development goals. He noted that safeguarding human dignity, rights, and lawful interests is a priority in shaping the “New Uzbekistan.”

Speakers also included Professor Murodjon Turgunov, Director of the Institute of State and Law, and Professor Mirodiljon Baratov, Head of the relevant department. They outlined the objectives, tasks, and key benchmarks of the Uzbekistan-2030 strategy, emphasizing the importance of human rights, improving public legal awareness, and strengthening social justice principles.

Participants stressed that the strategy represents a new phase of socio-economic development, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of reforms and improving citizens’ quality of life. The roundtable also highlighted the need to align this strategy with other national initiatives to ensure consistent and impactful implementation.

The discussion recognized the substantial practical experience accumulated in developing and implementing strategic documents. In this context, the 2026 draft of the “Human Rights-2030” strategy, Uzbekistan’s second national strategy in this area, was emphasized as particularly important.

The event concluded with recommendations and proposals to further strengthen the national human rights protection system and refine the strategy’s implementation framework.
