Round table "Concepts of integrated socio-economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030" takes place
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Arab Emirates on 24-28 March 2019 gave rise to new stages of active cooperation in various fields, such as improving government, trade and economic relations, investment and energy.
As a logical continuation of this visit, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 24, 2019 No. R-5480, the Road Map for implementing priority areas with the United Arab Emirates was approved, and 18 special working groups were created to implement the measures outlined.
In order to implement the measures identified by the roadmap within the framework of the National Strategy program, on 28-29 August, the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with experts from the United Arab Emirates, the United Nations, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and specialists interested Ministries and departments, scientific researchers of national research institutions.
The roundtable on concepts of integrated socio-economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 and training seminar (workshop) on the theme the experience of the United Arab Emirates in developing a development strategy for the medium and long term were held.
The draft concept is being improved through close work with experts from the United Arab Emirates, the United Nations, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, interested ministries and departments, as well as national research institutions
The following priority areas are considered as the main factors in achieving the goals of the Concept:
Maintaining macroeconomic stability;
Speeding up the transition to a market economy;
Strengthening social protection and services for citizens, transforming the growth of the demographic factor into effective economic growth;
Improving the role of the state in a strong market economy;
Effective use of the regional factor;
Conducting a targeted investment policy in ensuring economic growth and structural transformation;
Improving environmental efficiency.
In addition, the Concept fully covers the principles and objectives set for the sustainable development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In order to assess the effectiveness of the priority areas identified in the process of developing a medium-term and long-term strategy for the development of socio-economic spheres of the country, the experience of the United Arab Emirates in monitoring the medium-term and long-term development strategy and developing the main target indicators of the country will be studied.
This training seminar will discuss the principles and methods of developing and monitoring a medium-term and long-term development strategy, developing national key targets using the example of the United Arab Emirates.
It is expected that a round table and a training seminar will achieve the following results:
- identifying priority directions for introducing a new model aimed at increasing the level of vitality and inclusiveness of economic growth according to the draft Concept-2030, improving the quality of human capital, as well as improving the project by developing specific ways for Uzbekistan to enter the number of high-income countries until 2030;
- creating a conceptual framework for the development of the main target indicators of the national economy;
- development of ways to effectively use the main target indicators when monitoring medium-term and long-term strategies.
