Romanian Film Days Held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22–23 December 2025, Tashkent hosted Romanian Film Days, organized to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Screenings took place at the Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace (Panorama Cinema). The Uzbek audience was presented with contemporary Romanian films: on 22 December, viewers saw Warboy directed by Marian Crișan, and on 23 December, Horia by director Ana-Maria Comănescu.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, public figures, young people and students. The event was moderated by Alexander Pintsov, a representative of Uzbekistan’s National Cinematography Development Center.
Addressing the audience, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that 2025 has been a productive and eventful year for bilateral relations.
He stated that the anniversary of diplomatic ties was marked by a series of significant events, including academic and cultural initiatives, as well as the signing of an important document on road transit transportation during the meeting of transport ministers from EU countries, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region held in Tashkent on 27 November 2025.
The ambassador also highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral trade and the steady strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
In his remarks, Shukhrat Rizaev, Head of the Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency, emphasized the sustained interest of Uzbek audiences in Romanian cinema and underscored the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in film and culture more broadly.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Shukhrat Rizaev presented the Romanian ambassador with a commemorative gift to mark the upcoming centenary of Uzbek cinema, which will be celebrated on 28 December 2025.
Romanian Film Days became a notable cultural event and contributed to the further strengthening of humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Romania.
