“Roads of Memory”: Large-Scale Memorial Concert Held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 February, Tashkent hosted the large-scale concert “Roads of Memory,” dedicated to preserving the historical memory of the events of the Second World War.
The event took place at the Zarafshan Cinema and Concert Hall and brought together over 500 participants, including diplomats, students, and representatives of the cultural and creative intelligentsia.
The concert served as the key event of the visit by the Public Council under Rossotrudnichestvo, during which the results of joint efforts between Russia and Uzbekistan in preserving historical heritage related to the Second World War were summarized.
Before the concert, guests visited the “Victory Park” memorial complex and familiarized themselves with the updated exhibition, translated into Russian with support from the Public Council. Special attention was given to the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honoring Hero of the Soviet Union Grant Arakelovich Oganyants.
During the visit, the exhibition “Together in the Struggle Against Nazism” was also presented, highlighting the heroism of the Soviet people and Uzbekistan’s contribution to achieving victory.
The concert program featured performances by Uzbekistan’s honored and people’s artists, who presented patriotic songs and wartime poetry. Renowned musical compositions and poems by Olga Berggolts, Anna Akhmatova, Aibek, Robert Rozhdestvensky, and other authors were performed.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Alexey Erkhov, Chairman of the Public Council under Rossotrudnichestvo Andrey Tsiper, Council member Areg Agasaryan, and Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representation in Uzbekistan Irina Staroselskaya.
The “Victory Park” memorial complex in Tashkent remains an important center for patriotic education of youth, attracting more than 850,000 visitors annually.
Events of this kind contribute to strengthening historical memory and fostering humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan.
