Rights to intellectual property objects to be registered in online mode
This is envisaged by a draft Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On strengthening the guarantees for ensuring reliable protection of rights to intellectual property".
The document was published on the portal of discussion of regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the document, from 1 January 2019 Uzbekistan plans to introduce a procedure for filing applications for registration of a trademark, appellation of origin and the right to use the appellation of origin exclusively in electronic form.
Applications will be accepted through the Public Service Centers or the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The draft resolution envisages to develop and implement a single constantly updated integrated database of intellectual property objects by 1 January 2019.
The database will track objects of intellectual property that have received and lost their legal protection in real-time mode.
The system will automatically include and exclude objects of intellectual property from the Customs Register, respectively, upon receipt and loss of legal protection of intellectual property.
The database will also ensure the interaction of state bodies in the detection and suppression of cases of violation of intellectual property rights.
