Retail trade turnover reached over 46 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Compared to the same period of last year, an increase in retail growth rates was observed in all regions of Uzbekistan. Along with this, relatively high growth rates were noted in Khorezm, Syrdarya regions and the city of Tashkent, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan reports.

Retail trade turnover in January-April 2019 reached 46.11 trillion soums and increased, compared to the same period of last year, by 5.6%, and the turnover of large enterprises reached 7.54 trillion soums (growth rates 36.0%), small businesses – 38.57 trillion soums (growth rate of 2.3%). Of the total turnover of small businesses, the sale of goods in unorganized trade amounted to 4.5 trillion soums (compared to the same period of last year, a decrease of 7.6%).

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of commodity turnover of large enterprises increased, compared to the same period of last year, by 36.0% and reached 7.54 trillion soums, which is 16.4% of total sales.

Retail trade turnover of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, made up 38.57 trillion soums and, compared to the same period of last year, increased by 2.3%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 83.6%.

Compared to other regions, the share of small businesses was higher in Kashkadarya (96.9%), Jizzakh (90.6%), Surkhandarya (90.0%), Fergana (88.2%) and Namangan (88.2 %) areas.

In the structure of retail trade, the share of turnover of large enterprises is 16.4% of total sales, their main share was observed in the city of Tashkent (29.3%), Khorezm, Tashkent (25.7%) and Bukhara regions (17.7 %).

Retail trade turnover per capita in all regions of the republic (except for Kashkadarya (99.7%) region) increased compared to the same period of last year.

This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more in Tashkent (4.14 million soums), Navoi (1.88 million soums) and Tashkent regions (1.503 million soums). This can be explained by the location of large commercial and industrial enterprises in these regions.

The turnover of retail trade per capita in Uzbekistan in January-April 2019 averaged 1.38 million soums (compared to the same period of last year, it increased by 4.7%).

In January-April 2019, the share of trade in catering enterprises in the structure of retail trade turnover amounted to 3.1%, reaching 1.43 trillion soums and having increased, compared to the same period of last year, by 9.7%. Of these, 82.8% of trade turnover accounted for small businesses.
