Retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached 72.33 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the results of January-May 2020, retail trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached 72.33 trillion soums and decreased by 4.0% compared to the same period of 2019, and the turnover of large enterprises made up 11.97 trillion soums (growth rate - 11.4%), and small business and private entrepreneurship – 60.35 trillion soums (growth rate – minues 6.6%), including unorganized trade made up 4.53 trillion soums (growth rate – minus 29.9 %)

The retail trade turnover in January-May 2020 reached 72.33 trillion soums and decreased by 4.0% compared to the same period of last year.

In comparison with the corresponding period of the last year, in all regions of the republic there is a decrease in growth rates in retail trade. High growth rates are also observed in the structure of small business and private entrepreneurship.

A significant share in the structure of the republic’s retail turnover was noted in Tashkent city, which is 21.3%, or 15.38 trillion soums

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the smallest share was fixed at 2.0%, or 1.44 trillion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of small business and private entrepreneurship turnover in the reporting period made up 83.4% of total sales, their main share was observed in Syrdarya (94.3%), Kashkadarya (93.6%), Surkhandarya (90,9%), Namangan (89.6%), Andijan (89.4%), Fergana (89.2%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (90.0%).

Compared to the same period of last year, in all regions of the republic there was a decrease in growth in retail trade. Along with this, relatively high growth rates were noted in Samarkand (99.1%), Tashkent (98.7%), Navoi (98.1%) regions.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of trade turnover of large enterprises increased by 11.4% and reached 11.97 trillion soums, which is 16.6% of its total volume.

The retail trade turnover of small business and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, made up 60.35 trillion soums and, compared with the same period of last year, decreased by 6.6%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 83.4%.

The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was the largest in Syrdarya (94.3%), Kashkadarya (93.6%), Surkhandarya (90.9%), Namangan (89.6%), Andijan (89.4%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (90.0%). In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of large enterprises made up 16.6% of total sales, their main share was observed in Tashkent city (28.5%), Samarkand (20.8%), Khorezm (18.8%) and Bukhara (17.6%) regions.

Retail sales per capita in the republic in January-May 2020 averaged 2 129.1 thousand soums (compared to the same period of last year, it decreased by 5.9%).

This indicator, compared to other regions, was more recorded in Tashkent city (5 964.4 thousand soums), Navoi (2 680.1 thousand soums) and Tashkent (2 658.4 thousand soums) regions.

According to preliminary data on a survey of individuals, the volume of unorganized trade in January-May 2020 made up 4.53 trillion soums and, compared with the same period of last year, decreased by 28.9%. Including trade turnover of dehkan markets made up 2.31 trillion soums (growth rate – minus 19.4%), trade turnover of livestock markets was fixed at 2 216 billion soums (growth rate – minus 36.8%).

According to preliminary data on a survey of individuals involved in the sale of agricultural products, poultry and livestock (grown and kept in personal subsidiary plots) conducted in January-May 2020, the turnover of trade in dehkan markets made up 2 316.0 billion soums, in the markets of cattle – 2.21 trillion soums.

In January-May 2020, a survey of individuals engaged in the sale of agricultural products (grown on private farms) was conducted in all regions of the republic, as a result of which the turnover of this type of trade made up 2.31 trillion soums. High sales of fresh agricultural products reached 935.7 billion soums.

In January-May 2020, a survey of individuals involved in the sale of poultry and livestock (kept in private farms) was conducted in all regions of the republic, as a result of which the turnover of this type of trade made up 2.21 trillion soums. The sale of cattle of different ages reached 1.76 trillion soums, sheep and goats - 387.9 billion soums, horses - 51.4 billion soums, birds - 10.8 billion soums.

In January-May 2020, in the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of public catering enterprises made up 2.1%, reaching 1.55 trillion soums, and decreased by 32.6% compared to the same period of last year. Of these, 79.1% of the turnover accounted for small businesses.

The turnover of catering in the reporting period made up 1.55 trillion soums (67.4% of January-May 2019), by type of ownership: non-state – 1.5 trillion soums and state - 55.8 billion soums. Compared with the same period of last year, the turnover of catering enterprises of state ownership decreased from 4.5% to 3.6%.

According to preliminary data, in January-May 2020 the volume of wholesale trade reached 39.23 trillion soums and decreased by 9.5% compared with the same period of last year. The wholesale trade turnover of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, reached 28.55 trillion soums and, compared with the corresponding period of last year, decreased by 14.7%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic made up 72.8%.

The highest growth rates of wholesale trade turnover of large enterprises, compared with the previous year, were observed in Tashkent city (+77.3%), Andijan (+40.9%), Surkhandarya (+16.5%) and Samarkand (+14.6%) regions.

In the structure of the wholesale trade turnover, the share of small business turnover in the reporting period made up 72.8% of total sales, their main share was observed in Fergana (86.5%), Bukhara (85.4%), Syrdarya (81.4%), Jizzakh (77.4%) and Kashkadarya (76.5%) regions.

In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily declining. So, during the reporting period, the share of this sector decreased from 0.11% to 0.07% of the total volume of wholesale trade. The wholesale trade turnover in January-May 2020 made up 39.23 trillion soums, including entities of non-state subordination – 39.2 trillion soums, state subordination - 28.3 billion soums.

Analysis of the share of wholesale trade by ownership showed that there is still a small share of state ownership in the city of Tashkent (0.13%), Navoi (0.07%), and Tashkent (0.05%) regions. In other regions, wholesale as a whole is a non-state form of ownership.
