Results of official visit of the President of Uzbekistan discussed in Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An event was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo dedicated to the results of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan from 17 to 20 December, Dunyo news agency reported.

It presented detailed information on the results of the visit of the head of state to the Land of the Rising Sun, as well as a vision for the practical implementation of the agreements reached.

The event emphasized that the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan was a historic event, opening a new page in the history of the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership. The bilateral summit, as well as meetings with the Emperor of Japan Naruhito, heads of parliament and members of the government, leaders of Japanese business, allowed to bring relations to a higher level.

It was noted that a number of documents were signed during the visit, including a joint statement on further deepening and expanding the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, as well as investment agreements and trade contracts. Cooperation covers economics, industry, tourism, science, innovation, information and communication technologies, labor migration, education and sports, as well as inter-regional relations.

In his speech, Hideki Uyama, the Special Representative of the Japanese Foreign Ministry for Central Asia, called the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan a historical one, which opened new horizons for further strengthening the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership in the socio-political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Bright evidence of the fruitfulness of the visit, according to the Special Representative, is the signing of more than 60 documents, agreements and arrangements.

The Japanese diplomat confirmed the readiness of the Japanese Foreign Ministry for the practical implementation of mutual agreements.

The director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, K. Iwama, noted in his speech that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was one of the brightest events in Japanese foreign policy last year.

  1. Iwama said that after the visit of the head of Uzbekistan, he held many negotiations with various circles of Japan, which very positively evaluate the results of the visit, emphasizing its success.

Participants of the briefing were informed about the main provisions of the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan adopted on 28 December 2019, according to which diverse and mutually beneficial cooperation with Japan is built, as well as a mechanism for implementing and monitoring the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
