Responsibility strengthened for forced labor
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law “On Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
In accordance with the Law, the marriage age for men and women is set at 18 years old (today for women is 17 years old).
It also increased liability for administrative coercion to work, which entails the imposition of a fine in the amount of from ten to thirty minimum wages (today from one to three sizes). Repeated commission of this offense shall be sanctioned by a fine of thirty to one hundred minimum wages.
Involvement of a minor in forced labor entails the imposition of a fine of thirty to fifty minimum wages (today from five to fifteen sizes), the repeated commission of this offense entails the imposition of a fine of fifty to one hundred minimum wages.
In addition, it was established that repeated non-fulfillment after imposing an administrative penalty of the obligation to pay temporary disability, pregnancy and childbirth benefits in the amounts established by law, shall be sanctioned by a fine in the amount of fifteen to thirty minimum wages.
This Law shall enter into force on the day of its official publication. The part of the Law regarding the establishment of marriageable age shall enter into force on September 1, 2019.
