Resident of Ferghana Region Khuvaydo Umarova Recognized as Oldest Woman in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The birth of Khuvaydo Umarova (Toshmatova), a resident of the Korakum mahalla in Buvayda district, Ferghana region, born on 1 January 1895, has been officially confirmed. The date of her birth was established during an on-site court session held at her home, the Ministry of Justice reported.
Khuvaydo Umarova has now been officially recognized as the oldest woman in Uzbekistan. During a door-to-door survey, district justice officials discovered that her birth had never been registered, after which the department filed a petition with the court. The Kokand inter-district civil court granted the request.
Umarova has been mentioned in the media on several occasions. In 2016, she was awarded the “Shukhrat” medal along with other state honors. In 2023, at the age of 128, she participated in the referendum vote.
Her relatives had planned to apply for her inclusion in the Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living person. However, her passport, issued in 1999, did not specify her date of birth.
The Ministry of Justice noted that with her age now officially recognized, further steps may be taken, and the ministry will continue to monitor developments.
