Requirements for Probabilistic Safety Analysis of Nuclear Power Plant Units Established
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The key requirements for conducting a probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) of nuclear power plant units have received official state registration at the Ministry of Justice (registration number No. 3684, dated 8 October 2025).
The document sets out the rules for performing probabilistic safety analyses for nuclear power plant units at the design, construction, and operational stages.
The purpose of the analysis is to calculate safety probability indicators, compare the likelihood of severe accidents and major radioactive releases against established regulatory limits, determine priority safety measures, and assess the impact of system and component upgrades on overall plant safety.
The results of the probabilistic safety analysis are used to evaluate the reliability of unit systems, plan and conduct supervisory and inspection activities, and justify the list of initiating and design-basis accident scenarios.
Responsibility for conducting the analysis rests with the organization operating the nuclear power plant.
