Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– An international conference on the theme of Al-Farabi’s legacy dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the great thinker Abu Nasr ibn Muhammad al-Farabi was held online. The event was organized by the Al-Farabi Center at the Kazakh National University, Dunyo news agency reported.

The conference was attended by experts in the field of Farabi studies from Kazakhstan, countries of near and far abroad.

Among the main topics discussed during the conference were relevant aspects of modern Farabi studies, translation of philosophical treatises of Al-Farabi, intercultural communication, a modern interpretation of a perfect society.

From the Uzbek side, the consul general of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty A. Fathullaev, and the professor of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek Nigin Shermukhamedov, who made a presentation “Al Farabi - the founder of Islamic philosophy”, participated.

In their speeches, the importance of the scientific heritage of Al-Farabi for the rapprochement of different cultures, the maintenance of peace and stability, the relevance of his philosophical views in the creation of the rule of law and civil society, the adoption of the principles of consent and consensus at the global level, as well as the contribution of the scientist to the development of Islamic and world civilization.

The attention of the participants was focused on ongoing activities in Uzbekistan to preserve the ancient history and rich culture, comprehensive in-depth study and promotion of the scientific, religious and spiritual heritage of the great ancestors.
