Representatives of Regional Electric Networks: “Modern electricity meters are installed for consumers for free”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Regional Electric Networks supplies electricity to more than 6.7 million residential and more than 308,000 legal consumers.

In order to provide the population with quality services this year, modernization of electrical networks and transformer points is underway. The work on the implementation ohttps://uzdaily.ru/media/storage/img/Askar-foto/ustanovka%20elshetchik.jpgf the “Automated System of Accounting and Control of Electric Energy” (AMR) is consistently carried out.

More than 950,000 modern electric power metering devices have already been installed by the JSC Regional Power Grids in 24 districts and cities of the country. In total, by the end of the year it is planned to install more than 2.5 million of such meters, and by the end of 2020 all consumers, and that’s more than 7 million subscribers, will be fully connected to this system.

“Modern electric meters are installed for consumers for free,” said Batyr Alimov, director of the Directorate for the Implementation and Coordination of an Automated System for Monitoring and Accounting for Electric Energy. - The necessary funds were obtained at the expense of loans, and this money must be returned. The loan will be covered by funds collected from consumers in the form of payment for electricity. But this does not mean that electricity prices will rise. Just most of the profits go to pay the amount of the debt. "

Also, the company’s specialists assured journalists that there should be no electricity shortages in the regions this winter, if all the tasks were completed, and more electricity was produced this year than in previous years.

There may be breaks only in emergency situations or in case of sudden changes in the weather, which can lead to an abrupt increase in energy consumption. However, these factors cannot be predicted in advance, and the population cannot be warned about them either.

After the introduction of AMR electricity tariffs will vary. Davrbek Imomov, Director for Electricity Sales of Tashkent City Electric Networks JSC, noted that the goal of introducing a 300 kW quota applied to households is to create a culture of saving this resource. Each subsequent kilowatt-hour of energy will cost 46 soums more.

“We must admit that we do not have a culture of respect for electricity. For example, in Uzbekistan, the average energy consumption of families per month is 170 kW. But in summer and winter, this figure reaches 500 kW. If we increase the tariff by 18%, people will try to keep within the limited 300 kW, which will reduce the risk of overloading for the system,” Imomov said.
