Representative office of the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan opens in Latvia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 10 March 2020, the Representative Office of the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan (WAMU) in Latvia was opened at the Higher School of Management of Information Systems (ISMA) in Riga.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Latvian public, scientific, cultural and humanitarian circles, the diplomatic corps, compatriots, as well as Uzbek youth studying in Latvia.

In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov drew the attention of the audience to the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including the new youth policy being carried out in the republic. It was emphasized that in recent years the legal foundations of state youth policy have been strengthened, the Republican Interdepartmental Council for Youth Affairs has been formed, the Youth Union of Uzbekistan has been created, and June 30 has been declared Youth Day.

In the January Address of the head of our state to the Oliy Majlis noted the importance of further development of state youth policy. Currently, work is underway to introduce uniform criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of work with youth and the national youth policy assessment index, and the concept “Youth of Uzbekistan - 2025” is being developed.

The opening of the VAMU Representative Office in Riga, as noted, is an important event for Uzbek youth not only in Latvia, but also the Baltic states as a whole. It will serve as a common platform for communication, exchange of experience and knowledge, discussion of pressing issues of student life. In turn, the management of ISMA is ready to provide all possible assistance and support to the activities of the Representative Office.

ISMA President Roman Dyakon noted that Uzbekistan is currently undergoing a historically important stage of its development, that cardinal and dynamic changes are taking place in the country. ISMA has opened its first branch in Uzbekistan on the basis of Ferghana State University, which provides undergraduate studies in such popular fields as business administration, information and communication technology and tourism.

The official part ended with ISMA students from different countries of the world performing popular works of Uzbek and Latvian art.
