RELTA-2014 certificates awarded

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Friday, 4 July, the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) awarded the participants of the RELTA short summer course with certificates on successful completion of their 5 day learning adventure at WIUT.

Annually organized specifically for English language teachers from the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the course aimed at improving the teaching of English in the regional educational institutions, as well as establishing partnerships between teacher colleagues for further exchange of experience and knowledge.

Held from 30 June to 4 July, this year’s RELTA attracted about 20 successful candidates from 6 regions of the country and was conducted under the main topic “Classroom tools for effective teaching”. During the course participants were trained on:

  • effective use of video lessons in the classroom
  • introduction of games into the teaching process
  • motivation of teachers and students
  • non-class sessions such as “Readers’ Club”
  • use of the Internet and online resources
Speaking of trainers of RELTA, WIUT recruited the whole staff team of the English & Personal Development faculty, most of whom with qualifications from the University of Westminster London. As was noted by regional teachers themselves, they were not only impressed by the modern educational resources of the university, but also by their highly qualified mentors.

Sharing her impressions about the course, Mubarak Kattaboeva, an English teacher from Termez, said the following: “For a teacher it is very important to always improve own professional skills. With RELTA course I have not only learned a lot about modern methods of teaching English, but also to update my existing experience as a teacher. In this regard, I would like to emphasize the ‘micro-teaching’ technique. With the help of video material, made ??during a real lesson, the technique of ‘micro-teaching’ enables to scrutinize, in other words “microscopically” analyze the teacher, his/her skills, the process and the chosen method of teaching. Further, based on such analysis, necessary recommendations are made for improving or refining the lesson”.
