Regular Flights Launched Between Samarkand and Astana
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 November, the first passenger flight from Astana landed at Samarkand International Airport, marking the launch of regular air service between the two cities.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Consul General of Kazakhstan in Samarkand Talgat Sharipov and representatives of Air Marakanda.
The first passenger to check in for the flight at Samarkand International Airport received a free airline ticket certificate from QAZAQ AIR, while Air Marakanda provided VIP lounge access and commemorative souvenirs.
“The launch of direct flights to Astana is an important step in expanding the airport’s international route network,” noted the Consul General of Kazakhstan. “It also opens new opportunities for developing tourism and business ties between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.”
Direct flights on the “Samarkand–Astana” route will operate twice a week — on Fridays and Sundays.
