Regional forum CAMCA is held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - VI Regional Forum “Central Asia, Mongolia, the Caucasus and Afghanistan” will be held on 13-14 June in Tashkent.

Since its foundation in 2014, more than 160 speakers and hundreds of participants from more than 25 countries and 150 companies from around the world took part in the Forum. The forum provides a unique opportunity to exchange views with influential representatives from various fields, young leaders and leading experts in the CAMCA region and beyond to better understand the processes taking place in the region.

The CAMCA Regional Forum does not pursue any political goals and was created to facilitate a dialogue on regional issues, including the socio-economic development of the states of Central Asia and the Caucasus. The forum was created as one of the first and unique in nature platforms for meetings of experts from 10 CAMCA states to discuss new opportunities for expanding regional cooperation in various fields.

This year the Forum will be held in Uzbekistan, in the heart of Central Asia. It will be devoted to the topic: “CAMCA: common interests, common aspirations”. The event will include plenary sessions, keynote presentations and discussions on issues such as regional trade, transport and transit, investment attraction, development of regional economic and business connections, entrepreneurship and innovation, human capital, education, tourism and the media in the states of CAMCA.

The forum will be attended by over 80 leading regional and international experts, including:

Dr. Arthur Laffer, a famous American economist, founder and CEO of Laffer Associates.

Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, international adviser to the EBRD and former prime minister of Georgia.

Dr. Frederick Starr, Chairman of the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus

“We welcome the fact that the organizers of the CAMCA forum are holding their next meeting in Tashkent,” said Senator Sadyk Safaev, first deputy chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Over the past decades, the role of Central Asia and the South Caucasus in the world has changed significantly. We have witnessed the formation of the region as an important participant in global processes.

Over the past two years, a number of new changes have occurred in the region, including fundamental changes in Uzbekistan. Under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale reforms began in the country aimed at ensuring genuine political and economic modernization.

Today, the CAMCA region is located at an important junction of civilizations of the modern world. I am sure that the Forum will contribute to the dialogue between the peoples of the region, ”said Senator Safaev.

“Over the past six years, CAMCA Forum has become a platform for meetings of young leaders, representatives of business circles, states, the media and civil society from all countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. The forum in Tashkent promises to be the largest and most successful event since its inception. Speakers from more than 20 countries and about 300 guests will take part in it. Speakers will share their vision of current processes in the states of the region, as well as analyze existing opportunities for the development of regional relations,” said Dr. Frederick Starr, Chairman of the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus.

“An impressive list of participants makes the Forum a meeting place for professionals interested in developing regional cooperation in various fields, as well as attracting representatives of other countries outside the CAMCA region, foreign business circles and organizations interested in exploring new opportunities for partnership in this region”, - noted Sarah Tonucci, executive director of the Rumsfeld Foundation.

The forum was organized by participants of the CAMCA regional cooperation network, the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus, and the Rumsfeld Foundation. The organizers are convinced that the expansion of dialogue and cooperation between regional and international experts from various fields will make an important contribution to the socio-economic and political development both at the national level and at the level of the entire CAMCA region.
