Reforming healthcare system discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Parliamentary faction of Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” and executive committee of the political council of the part held a roundtable titles “Reforming healthcare system in Uzbekistan – guarantee for construction of healthy society and upbringing of developed persons” in Tashkent on 21 August 2013.

Representatives of Ministry of Healthcare, Adolat Party, experts and others participated at the event.

It was said that Uzbekistan has been conducting wide-scale reforms in healthcare. Uzbekistan adopted 14 laws, 33 decrees and resolutions of the president, about 100 resolution of the government, 54 documents of ministries and departments, as well as over 230 by-laws.

Currently, Uzbekistan is conducting work on further improving health of women and children in line with the presidential decree “On additional measures on protection of health of mothers and children, upbringing healthy generation”.

The participants noted that during independence years life expectancy among male rose from 67 to 73 and women to 75. The mother and child mortality fell three times.

Uzbekistan claimed the ninth place among 161 countries of the world in the ranking on health of young generation, developed by Save the Children.

During the roundtable, the participants developed recommendations on further improvement of health system in Uzbekistan.
