Reading hall “Window to Korea” opened at National Library

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A reading hall “Window to Korea” has been opened at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi on 22 December 2014, the website of the library said.

The hall was created within the project in cooperation with National Library of Korea and equipped with information resource, provided by the Korean side.

Number of users, studying Korean language and culture, is increasing at the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. The library participated in international project “Window to Korea”, which is aimed at familiarizing with the readers with history, traditions and achievements of South Korea.

Director of National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi Asadjon Hodjaev, Director of National Library of Korea Ryu Jung Yung and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan Lee Wook-heon attended the opening ceremony of the reading hall.

Ryu Jung Yung expressed gratitude for interest in Korean language and culture. He said that the Korean side will do its best to help readers to find necessary information.

Ambassador Lee Wook-heon said that the reading hall will help people to fine many interesting things. He said that the Korean side will do its best so 15,000 people, studying Korean language, will visit the reading hall again and again.

National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi within the project “Window to Korea” received 2,051 books on language, literature, tourism, culture and history. There are also manuals on Korean language with CDs. All literature will be available to users of the library.
