Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The holy month of Ramadan will begin in Uzbekistan on 24 April 2020.
On 20 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the worthy conduct of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Muslim Board of Uzbekistan announced that the first day of Ramadan will begin on 24 April 2020.
In the context of restrictions associated with the fight against coronavirus, events dedicated to Ramadan will be carried out with strict observance of quarantine rules, at home, with the family.
The Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, the khokimiyats of the regions and Tashkent, together with the Ministry for the Support of the Mahalla and the Family and other public organizations, was entrusted with creating the necessary conditions for this.
It should be noted that t he chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, announced a fatwa about holding the month of Ramadan in quarantine.
In order to prevent violation of quarantine requirements during the month of Ramadan, the Council of Ulems of the Muslims Department of Uzbekistan adopted a fatwa in which they urge all Muslims to observe the following instructions:
- perform tarawih namaz and hatm of the Qur’an at home, hatm hutm of the Qur’an will also be broadcast online with the participation of the kari acting in the system of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan;
- not to conduct collective iftars, funds intended for holding Iftar ceremonies, to transfer to families in need of material support through the "Center for the Coordination of Sponsorship";
- It is recommended to transfer funds from zakat, fidiya and fitr-sadak to the accounts of the charitable public “Vakf” and its territorial divisions or to the “Sponsorship Coordination Center”.
