Ramadan 2026 to Begin on 19 February; Eid al-Fitr on 20 March
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Fatwa Committee of the Council of Muslim Religious Authorities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has set the dates for the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday for 2026 (1447 AH) during a meeting in Samarkand.
According to the Committee’s resolution, the first day of Ramadan 2026 will be Thursday, 19 February, and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20 March.
The decision was made taking into account coordination between the religious authorities of the OTS member states and astronomical calculations, ensuring the synchronization of religious practices among Muslim communities in Turkic countries while considering modern scientific data on the lunar calendar.
In its official statement, the Committee also extended wishes of peace, well-being, and spiritual renewal to the entire Islamic world and humanity ahead of this period of mercy and forgiveness. The final official date for the start of Ramadan in Uzbekistan will be confirmed separately.
