Quota for Umrah pilgrimage for Uzbek citizens set at 10,000

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Quota for Umrah pilgrimage (small pilgrimage) in Saudi Arabia for citizens of Uzbekistan will be set at 10,000 from 2018.

On 7 June 2017, the Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution that established a new quota for small pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

According to the document, the quota for Umrah pilgrimage for citizens of Uzbekistan rises from 6,000 in 2017 to 10,000 people in 2018.

The resolution said that Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) will reduce the cost of air tickets for pilgrims.

For citizens, who changed their permanent place of residence, the line for performing the ritual of Hajj or Umrah will be preserved.

Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan within two months will introduce a single system of online queue Hajj and Umrah pilgrims on its official website.

The Uzbek Government said that pilgrims will undergo medical examination for free of charge in Tashkent, Nukus and the administrative centers of the regions of Uzbekistan.

Total quota for pilgrims from Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia increased by 20% in 2017 compared to 2016 – to 13,200 people. Some 7,200 people from Uzbekistan will conduct Hajj pilgrimage (+1.4 times) and 6,000 people – perform Umrah pilgrimage.
