Quality of care provided to pregnant women and women of reproductive age, as well as infants is improving

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the 28th plenary session of the Senate, the results of a parliamentary inquiry sent to the Government on the state of medical care provided to pregnant women and women of reproductive age, as well as babies, were discussed.

The senators stressed that certain work had been done on the issues raised in the parliamentary inquiry.

In particular, during 2021, a medical examination of 8.8 million women of reproductive age (98.2% of the total number) was carried out, of which 3.9 million (44.3%) were diagnosed with extragenital diseases. 3.5 million people (91.8%) of those who were diagnosed with diseases underwent rehabilitation in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Also, in mountainous, desert and hard-to-reach villages located far from regional centers, with the help of the Mobile Teams of Doctors, a medical examination of 658.5 thousand women of reproductive age was carried out. As a result, 275,600 people (41.9%) were diagnosed with various diseases, almost 94% of them underwent a course of recovery.

It was emphasized that measures to address some of the issues indicated by the senators in the parliamentary inquiry were not taken adequately.

In particular, no specific plan has been developed to ensure compliance with the workload of maternity facilities with the number of places available in them and established regulations.

In response to a parliamentary inquiry, no clarification was given on the issue of local producers providing breast-milk substitute products for feeding infants and young children.

A resolution of the Senate was adopted, providing for the adoption of an appropriate regulatory legal act to address the issues raised by the senators in the parliamentary inquiry.
