Qanot Sharq Receives First Airbus A321XLR in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek airline Qanot Sharq has received its first of four Airbus A321XLR aircraft under a long-term lease agreement with Air Lease, becoming the first operator of the A321XLR in Central Asia and the CIS.

The new aircraft is configured for 190 passengers in a two-class layout: 16 business class seats with fully flat beds and 174 economy class seats. The Airbus Airspace cabin provides a modern level of comfort, including enlarged XL overhead bins, individual device connections, and an ambient lighting system for an enhanced onboard experience.

The A321XLR is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and can cover up to 4,700 nautical miles, which is 15% farther than the A321LR. The aircraft reduces fuel consumption per seat by 30% compared to previous generations, lowers NOx emissions, and reduces noise. It is also capable of operating on fuel containing up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with Airbus planning full SAF compatibility by 2030.

The acquisition of the A321XLR will allow Qanot Sharq to expand its international route network, including destinations such as Sanya, Busan, and New York (via Budapest), modernize its fleet, and increase accessibility of air travel across the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
