Putin congratulates Uzbekistan with 69th anniversary of victory in World War II

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and people of the country with the 69th anniversary of victory in the World War II.

“Our people fought heroically against the Nazis shoulder to shoulder and with enormous sacrifices defended right to life, liberty and decent future. We deeply mourn about millions who died and will always honor the heroism of our fathers and grandfathers, who had survived in the hard fight and bequeathed to us to keep the peace,” the message reads.

“The memory of the Great Victory unites people of our friendly countries. Weighty confirmation to this is the strategic partnership agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the 10th anniversary of which we celebrate this year. I am convinced that further strengthening of Russian-Uzbek relations will contribute to security and stability in Central Asia,” the message noted.

“I ask you, dear Islam Abduganievich, to convey gratitude and warmest congratulations to veterans of the World War II, residing in Uzbekistan, wishes for peace and prosperity – to all Uzbek people,” the document says.
